The rhetorical identification fulfills the gap between a speaker and an audience by providing a general ground. An effective author is able to understand the audience and motivational tools for them. It is also important for speakers to know the goals and reasons of this presentation (Butterfield, 2009). In the first video, audiences are the business people and general public that listen and view this video to gain knowledge about personal interest and core values. In contrast, business leaders, professionals and other people are audience of this presentation. It is because it is leadership summit where all business leaders were gathered.
The Situation: Purpose and physical location are important variables of situation (Reynolds, 2011). In the first video, speaker told about the importance of core values and innovative environment that attracts top talent and loyal employees who get fun and satisfaction by working there. In the second video, the author encourages people to be open to new ways of thinking. His goal is to help everyone make the quantum leap toward more creative, productive and confident lives (YouTube, 2009).
In effective presentation, all three elements of rhetorical triangle are interrelated to each other. The success of one element depends on the effectiveness of other elements. Speakers want good audience and content to make effective presentation, while audience wants to hear good speakers who give them new and interesting knowledge about personal interest (Butterfield, 2009). The message and content is important in this triangle because it develops a link and interest between author and audience. So, there is a relationship among all three elements of rhetorical triangle.
Successful or Not Successful Elements
In the first video, all the three elements are successful. In this presentation, Kevin Freiberg talked about the core values and cultures that help to motivate employees. In this video, speaker is looking fully energetic, interactive and confident. A successful speaker uses some motivating factors and two way communication to exchange ideas and thoughts about the subject matter. He provides his views about critical links between leadership, corporate culture and extraordinary performance of organization (YouTube, 2010). On the other hand, in second video, all the three elements are not successful due to absence of audience at the time of presentation. In this video, the author, James Mapes is looking serious, but confident and gives important knowledge about quantum leap thinking and creativity (YouTube, 2009). It is also a good video but not as successful as first video.
Compare and Contrast Two Presentations
Both of these video presentations have some similarities and differences due to same subject matter. According to these similarities and differences, the first video is more effective as compared to second video. There are some examples of similarities and differences:
Firstly, the subject matter of both presentations is important and valuable for audience. From both presentations, audience gets knowledge about the leadership, creativity and motivation. These presentations have enough material related to the subject matter. In both presentations, speakers discussed the message related to motivation, leadership and corporate culture that helps to provide creative and innovative environment for employees (YouTube, 2010). Both are motivational speakers and corporate leaders.
